1983 John Overton High School Marching Band at MTSU Contest of Champions

1983 John Overton High School Marching Band from Nashville, TN at MTSU Contest of Champions under the direction of Jo Ann Hood and Rodney Webb. The band was 1st place – Grand Champion and also won The Tennessee Governor’s Cup signifying them as Tennessee State Marching Band Champions. This was the first time John Overton won the state championship.

The 1983 North Hardin High School Marching Band from Radcliff, KY under the direction of Dale Warren appearing in finals competition of the MTSU Contest of Champions. The band was undefeated coming into Contest of Champions and ended up being the Class A Champion and 2nd place overall – Reserve Grand Champions. This was the first year that any Class A band competed in finals against the large class bands.
